REMONT is a design atelier working on private residences and commercial spaces in Moscow, St Petersburg and wherever its clients happen to be. The atelier was founded by Vera, who once summed up her method in a single line: “I have taste, I listen, and I deliver.” The only thing that has changed since is the pronoun.
Listening is the house signature. Every project begins as a conversation — how you live, what irritates you, what you could never explain to a designer — and what we are expected to understand anyway. Then comes the craft: drawings, engineering, site supervision, procurement down to the last object. Behind the restraint is a strict discipline of process: deadlines, budgets and decisions are recorded, not promised.
We call ourselves an atelier because we work like one — made to measure, by hand, with fittings. Every interior is a one-off. As for the name: remont is the Russian word for renovation, the one everyone dreads. We put it on our door to give it back its original meaning — work, done properly. Vera remains the author and the first listener of every project.
The Name. REMONT — pronounced reh-MONT — is Russian for renovation: the one word every Russian dreads. Dust, delays, living out of boxes. We set it in serif and hung it over our door. An atelier confident enough to wear that name has nothing left to prove.
Haute remont is a method, not an ornament. There is haute couture, and there is haute cuisine; we work in the same line. By hand, to measure, with fittings, one of a kind. Materials, joinery and lighting scenarios are tested before they enter a project: a prototype instead of a catalogue, a test instead of a promise. Fewer surprises, more precision.
